Methodology

Tax tables last reviewed 2026-07-22. All outputs are planning estimates, not official payroll or tax advice.

What we do

We annualize your pay for the selected frequency, apply that market’s tax model, then show net pay per period and per year. You can copy, download, or print a summary.

United States

Federal income tax uses 2026 brackets and standard deductions by filing status. FICA uses the 2026 Social Security wage base and Medicare rates. Traditional 401(k) contributions reduce the federal and state income-tax bases but not FICA; HSA / §125 cafeteria contributions reduce both. Optional Roth 401(k) is post-tax. State tax uses explicit models for most states; optional local tax covers NYC resident PIT, Philadelphia wage tax, and Yonkers. You can reverse-solve for the gross needed to hit a target take-home, or compare two 401(k) contribution levels. We do not implement full IRS Pub 15-T paycheck withholding tables.

The self-employment / 1099 calculator estimates Schedule SE tax (92.35% factor, SS wage base $184,500, Additional Medicare), half-SE deduction, QBI with Rev. Proc. 2025-32 thresholds and wage/UBIA limitation (including SSTB phase-out), federal and state income tax, quarterly amounts with §6654 safe-harbor comparison, and an optional S-Corp vs sole-prop estimate.

Canada

Federal brackets for 2026 (14%–33%) with the Basic Personal Amount as a non-refundable credit at 14% (tapers for high income). Outside Quebec, CPP and EI use 2026 YMPE/YAMPE and MIE. Quebec uses QPP (6.30% + QPP2), reduced EI (1.30%), and QPIP (0.430%). Ontario, BC, Alberta, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick use provincial brackets; remaining jurisdictions use effective-rate estimates. Pre-tax deductions reduce income-tax bases only (not CPP/EI/QPP/QPIP).

United Kingdom

PAYE income tax (England/Wales/NI or Scottish bands) and employee Class 1 NI for 2025/26. Optional Marriage Allowance (+£1,260), student loan plans (1/2/4/5), and employee pension % with salary-sacrifice or relief-at-source treatment. Tax codes and full net-pay schemes are not modeled — verify with HMRC / payroll.

Australia

Resident or foreign-resident PAYG brackets for FY 2025–26, plus Medicare levy for residents. Optional HELP / HECS compulsory repayment, salary sacrifice to super, and Medicare levy surcharge (singles tiers) when private hospital cover is off. Employer Superannuation Guarantee is noted but not deducted from cash pay by default. Income tax is federal — states do not add wage income tax in this model.

Pakistan

FBR salaried slabs for FY 2025-26 with surcharge above Rs 10M taxable. Optional ATL filer / non-filer comparison (non-filer doubles tax for Tenth Schedule–style estimates; salary withholding often uses the same slabs — confirm with your employer). Provincial wage income tax is not modeled.

Separately, the business & withholding tools use the FBR Withholding Tax Rate Card for Tax Year 2026 (Finance Act 2025): s.153 goods/services/contracts subtypes, s.155 progressive rent, s.236C/236K ATL·late·non-ATL slabs, plus expanded rows (exports, prizes, cash withdrawal, distributors/retailers, and import Part schedules), federal GST 18%, and provincial services tax with sector schedules. Business income tax uses non-salaried/AOP slabs with 10% s.4AB surcharge above Rs 10M, company rates 29% / 20% small / 39% banking, optional minimum tax on turnover, and s.4C super tax (1%–10% above Rs 150M).

India

New Tax Regime (default) or simplified Old Regime with optional §80C (capped; includes EPF without double-count) and House Rent Allowance exemption (minimum of actual HRA, rent minus 10% of basic, and 50%/40% of basic for metro/non-metro). Surcharge applies above ₹50 lakh (New capped at 25%; Old up to 37%). EPF reduces take-home but does not reduce New Regime taxable income. Professional tax is simplified.
